Changes

Thus far, this blog has not been what I have wanted it to be. While this is mostly because I have had no idea what I wanted this blog to be, I think I’m going to try something new.

I don’t know if it will work, but I am going to try to start filming short videos not just of my projects, but rather of me talking about my projects. I want to get better at explaining what I do, and I figure this probably the best way to practice. Assuming I actually carry through, please bare with me; I doubt I will be very enjoyable to watch at the beginning. I hope, however, that I will get better and that these videos become interesting to watch. If anyone has any comments or suggestions, please go to http://measure1cut2.tumblr.com/ask and tell me what’s on your mind.

My Passionate Pursuit: Remote Micro Aeronautic Vehicles (RC Airplanes)

For the two credits I am required to put in six hours a week, but I think I’m already putting in at least double that. I like building planes.

My next goal (after fly the the Witch Plane) is to make a ground-air plane out of insulating foam.

New Design Project: Transportation

Your challenge is to design a bio-inspired transporter toy to engage and delight 4th graders!

You will choose an animal with a distinctive motion and behavior to inspire your toy design. Animals “transport” different things for different reasons. For instance, koala bears transports their young on their backs as they climb, and ants clamp onto and transport food with their jaws.

Whichever animal you choose to inspire your design, you must be able to deliver a motion or behavior with character that others can understand and appreciate when they see your final prototype in action. Your designs will also have to meet the project requirements posted separately.”
